Handy girl is a portfolio website for New York City based professional hand model LiKai showcasing her works with cosmetic name brands, magazine editorials, and styling collaboration with photographers.

Role
Visual design | Web design | Branding

Client Needs
Before I started anything, I sat with Likai to understand her needs of the website: the look and feel, the contents, and other requests. LiKai wanted the website to be fun, eye-catching and easy to navigate, also represents her personal taste of style, which is retro, unique, and playful.

Site Mapping
Based on the discussion with LiKai, I listed out the content requirements for the website, then began mapping out the architecture of the site and sketching wireframes.

Mood board
Next I developed visual mood boards and sat with LiKai to ensure the later visual development matches her needs.

Wireframing
I digitized sketches and created low fidelity wireframes to work out the information architecture of each page.

Branding - Logo Development
Based on the visual mood boards, I then developed the logo for handy girl website and created an animation as the intro on the homepage.

Outcome
The final website reflects the retro, playful vibe that LiKai was looking for, while also provides a clear path for users to navigate through her portfolio. The homepage started with an interesting animation introduces the logo and tag line, creates a wow effect that catches viewers' eyes. On the page where users can view LiKai's works, I used the handy girl logo to create repetitive pattern as background, with contrasting bold neon outlined each work categories section.
